Veteran
Orange County Musician/Entertainer Returns to the Spotlight
Laguna Niguel, CA, January 29, 2010- Craig Colley re-launches his
performance and songwriting career after a 10 year hiatus. Colley
returns to the Wind & Sea in Dana Point performing solo, February
12, 13, 14 (Valentines Day), 19 & 20 from 8:30 to midnight. Throughout
the years, Colley (formerly known as Eddie Kidd) has re-invented himself
musically and now he is doing it again. His new show includes a variety
of contemporary and classic rock, country, blues and original music.
In his solo act Craig performs live music on acoustic guitar, piano
and harmonica (no background or karaoke tracks) and performs songs
from Green Day to the Beatles, Dave Mathews to The Eagles, Coldplay
to Elton John, Matchbox 20 to Billy Joel and a variety of classic
rock, country, blues and sing-alongs In his new show Craig features
a several segments of what he calls “songs from this century”
and is a firm believer that one of the first signs of age is not being
open to new contemporary music. Audiences are responding and Craig
is already developing a new following. Because of the new mix of current
favorites and classic rock he is also drawing a younger crowd as well.
He is currently in the studio recording two new albums for a spring
release. One album is a solo instrumental piano and the other an acoustic
rock album both featuring original music written by Colley.
When
asked why he decided to use his real name and not return under the
persona of Eddie Kidd, he simply explains, “Adopting a stage
name is something that happened early in my career and brought me
great success. Honestly, it’s easier in a way to be someone
else on stage, but that part of career has run its course. Been
there, done that so to speak.” He continued, “Now that
I am recording new material and using a different and new approach
to entertaining it just wasn’t a good fit anymore. So, in
a strange way it’s a little like starting over and I like
that idea. Life is truly too short not to experience new and fun
things as often as possible- especially music both live and recorded!
Part of the challenge is letting all my old Eddie Kidd fans know
I am back,” he said.
Bob
Mardian, Owner & Founder of Wind & Sea Restaurant said this
about Colley, “I'm really excited that Craig is re-launching
his live performance career. He first entertained at the Wind &
Sea in 1985 using his stage name, Eddie Kidd. I've known Craig for
a quarter of a century and for most of those years, I thought Eddie
was his real name. We here at the Wind & Sea consider ourselves
very fortunate to partner up with Craig as he pops back into the
entertainment world. His level of professionalism and engaging personality
make Wind & Sea a better place. His special musical talent really
raises the bar on the nights he entertains our clientele and we
are enthusiastically looking forward to Craig Colley again becoming
a permanent part of our regularly scheduled entertainment program
at the Wind & Sea.”
Craig’s
forte when performing live is communicating with the audience and
creating the perfect mix of music and entertainment. He is an expert
when it comes to completely engaging a crowd and has even written
a book on how to do it.
After majoring in Music at Northern Illinois University, Craig began
his full time professional career in 1977 as a traveling musician
and songwriter, performing all across North America, Europe, and
Korea. He started his music career in 1966 at the age of 11 and
since that time he has performed over 12,000 gigs.
He
holds a world record and is pictured in the Guinness Book of World

band- “Atlantis”. (Circa 1989)
Craig has written a book on self-promotion/entertaining for musicians
